Your influence has limits.

As a leader, your responsibilities include being present, honest, engaging in important conversations, and fostering a safe environment.

But you are not responsible for people. You cannot carry their accountability for them. And when you try to, you don’t help; you deprive them of the very experience they need. I have found that it is often the most compassionate leaders who struggle most with this realisation, pouring their energy into others until they are depleted.

Fulfil your responsibilities to the best of your ability, and recognise that each person must ultimately walk their own path and learn from their own decisions.
