RANDOMNESS KEEPS PEOPLE INTERESTED
Think about how magic tricks and jokes captivate us with their element of surprise. Well, the good ones, that is! However, the delight swiftly fades away once the trick is revealed or the joke is explained. The same principle applies to leadership.
Effective leadership requires striking a balance between structure and spontaneity. While structure holds significance in various life domains and leadership, I’ve witnessed too much structure impede team dynamics and create an uninspiring work environment, reducing enjoyment and effectiveness.
Introducing elements of randomness is essential to keep people engaged and intrigued. When everything becomes consistently predictable, motivation slowly dwindles. Just play the same song on repeat for a week or so and see how it makes you feel.
Inject a touch of unpredictability into your leadership style or work environment and observe the reaction.
