Last week, I witnessed a leader expressing their remarkable knack for active listening. It was impressive until I posed a question about a particular point.
How good are you at letting thoughts arise and then pass without fixating on them? As soon as we start ruminating on our response in our head, we have stopped listening!
Try it at work and at home.
When a thought arises, let it go; don’t hang onto it or interrupt. Stay attentive to the person before you, and let them finish! Rest assured, you can summon your thoughts back when they finish.
