Humility
Recently, I heard a thought-provoking story from an elite soldier. He and his teammates had turned their sights and attention on a team member who was failing – but to no one’s surprise, the individual kept performing poorly until they ultimately didn’t make it. When asked what stopped him from intervening earlier, he replied that it wasn’t courage; even though he is courageous, he said lack of humility held him back.
Humility can be a powerful asset in life. It enables us to reprehend our limitations, allowing us to learn and grow. Being humble doesn’t mean we should ignore our accomplishments, but it does mean that we should keep them in perspective. Integrating humility into daily life allows for an honest connection with ourselves and others, which can help us find a more balanced approach to the world. Humility is not about a lack of confidence but rather an open-mindedness that can bring growth and fulfilment in our professional and personal lives.
When faced with a tough decision, remember that sometimes humility can be the most beneficial path – so keep your eyes peeled for those moments.
